When Phiona meets Robert Katende, a missionary who teaches the game of chess to children in her area, she is immediately drawn into the game. "Queen of Katwe" tells the story of Phiona Mutesi, a Ugandan-born chess world champion who grew up in a poverty-stricken community with her mother Harriet Mutesi and her siblings.
