

"Queen of Katwe" hits theaters September 23, 2016. With her quick understanding of chess and her competitive spirit, Phiona competes and rises through the ranks. When Phiona meets Robert Katende, a missionary who teaches the game of chess to children in her area, she is immediately drawn into the game. "Queen of Katwe" tells the story of Phiona Mutesi, a Ugandan-born chess world champion who grew up in a poverty-stricken community with her mother Harriet Mutesi and her siblings.
